FASHION BUYERS BEWARE: SIMON HOLLOWAYS INAUGURAL HOGAN COLLECTION AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR WILL BE DIRECTIONAL FOR FW 2014:
Mr Holloway’s design aesthetic for this collection had three distinct characteristics. First, there was the decisively Non-Jimmy-Choo (esque) inclusion of short squared-off heel’s similar to those we have been seeing on the runways for the past three seasons. The recent re-emergence of the short squared-off heel can originally be credited to Miu Miu, and later Prada.

The second directional aspect to Holloways’s Hogan (FW 2014) collection included aggressive fur chubbies with leather accents. The final directional influence in this collection is evident in its loose floral 1990’s inspired dresses. 1990’s Grunge inspired floral dresses were first spotted on the runway’s FW 2013 and both Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurnet, and Christopher Kane produced exquisite renditions of this iconic fashion artifact.

Most of the fashion press reported that Mr Holloway’s FW 2014 Collection was a CAPSULE collection – this is incorrect.
“After three seasons of collaborating with Katie Grand on capsule collections, Hogan has changed things up. Simon Holloway has been hired away from Jimmy Choo to design not just the shoes and bags that are the core of the Diego Della Valle-owned brand, but also a full line of ready-to-wear.”
