On Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., Vancouver Fashion Week attendees will be treated to an unforgettable runway experience courtesy of A ustralia‘s Green Embassy. Silent Rainforest is the S/S16 wearable art series from the Eco Haute Couture label. It’s a stunning collection featuring artist/designer Zuhal Kuvan-Mills’ original hand-printed art on organic, earth-friendly fabrics. This will mark the label’s third appearance at VFW. Green Embassy came to fruition merely two years ago, and the prolific label has earned a reputation for releasing beautiful work with environmental influences and earth-inspired messages. Silent Rainforest, the seventh offering from this compelling fashion house, is a whimsical assemblage of wearable art. Dreamy, ethereal, and certainly unlike any couture you’ve ever seen, the series might even be Green Embassy’s best effort to date.

Vancouver Fashion Week founder Jamal Abdourahman is among many local supporters anticipating the Vancouver debut of Silent Rainforest. “We are so excited to have one of the most talented designers at VFW again,” he said recently on the subject of Green Embassy’s return. From her Alpaca farm in Australia (she is, among many other things, a Veterinary surgeon), Kuvan-Mills expressed her own excitement. “<strong”>I love Vancouver”, she divulged. “The mountains, the clean, crisp air, the people and the cafes- it’s a second home for me. I can’t wait to show Silent Rainforest at VFW.”

A celebration of Earth’s mystical rainforests and the treasures they hold, Silent Rainforest features tops and skirts, simple dresses and show-stopping gowns. The collection offers a range of classic and trendy cuts, with arresting sculptural details woven throughout. Forgoing fabric dyes, Kuvan-Mills has instead applied berries, purple carrots, flowers, and turmeric for colour and prints. GOTS certified Organic Cotton and Vegan Silk create striking pieces that drape and dazzle, honoring all body types. Swarovski crystals emulate the dewdrops that dwell in the rainforest. At once timeless and modern, each piece is carefully crafted with plenty of heart- they are gems meant to he handed down through many generations, effortlessly withstanding the test of time
