About the Company

Shakespeare Unchained adapts classic literature using a modern outlook while blending dance and theatre. The company is directed and founded by dance artist/choreographer Kara Nolte and actor/director Julia Siedlanowska. Kara and Julia have a mutual love for the ridiculously serious and theatrically rhythmic. They draw on techniques of contemporary dance and physical theatre to create original work. Highly sought after for their artistry, Kara and Julia have collaborated with the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Fuse, Mascall Dance’s Bloom Residency, the Firehall Arts Centre’s BC Buds Festival, the Vancouver Fringe, the Port Moody Arts Festival, SHIFT Festival, Rebel Haunt Theatre and the Vancouver International Chutzpah! Festival to name a few.

Shakespeare Unchained is dedicated to creating and nurturing a vibrant theatre community in the Port Moody and Tri-Cities area.
