The tallest freestanding cuckoo clock in America magically appeared at the corner of West Georgia and Homer in downtown Vancouver last week. The launch of Portland is Happening Now visitors campaign, offering Vancouverites special travel deals and freebies during the winter months.

At the top of each hour, the clock chimed and the cuckoo which is a hand carved wooden rooster came out of the top of Mt Hood. At the same time, exiting the life size front door were street performers such a unicyclist with flaming bagpipes and fresh Voodoo donuts for all.

This working cuckoo clock carved from Oregon Maple measures 7.3 meters tall by 2.9 meters wide and weighs over 3,000 kilos. Features 14 icons of Portland, from Mt. Hood to the Sasquatch to beer and salmon.
