Dear Reader,

One of the great joys in turning 40 years old for me has been the fact that it is 100% appropriate to wear Stilettos everyday! In my humble opinion stilettos are not appropriate in the daytime for the under 40 set. Young ladies in their 20’s and 30’s are fine in stilettos for the evening but for daytime – it just comes off as age inappropriate. However, on a fashionable woman 40 and up stilettos covey a sophisticated yet urbane elegance. Booties like the ones pictured above look FANTASTIC paired with slim jeans and a Black Helmut Lang blazer. There are a few things to keep top-of-mind if you are going to venture out during the daytime in you stilettos.

1) First, take a tape measure and measure the height of the heel and platform of your MOST COMFORTABLE high-heel stilettos. Keep these stats in mind when you are shopping for another pair of stilettos. KNOW YOUR stiletto heel-height-platform sweet spot ratio by heart. This will prevent you from buying uncomfortable stilettos in the future.

2) Immediately after purchasing a pair of stilettos take them to the shoe repair store and ask them to glue a SOFT RUBBERY sole to the bottom. This will help prevent you from slipping on rainy days on treacherous wet tile flooring. Do not worry about the sole looking ugly, no one but you will notice it. Remember, your stilettos are meant for everyday use so you will be grateful for this preventative safety measure – GUARANTEED!

3) Unless your high heels look like the ones pictured above stay away from grass, dirt, and slotted street grates.

4) After every third or fourth wear check the heel tip of your stiletto otherwise known as the STILETTO HEEL TIP DOWEL pictured above. You will find an assortment of replacement Stiletto Heel Tip Dowels which can be easily found on either Amazon or Ebay for between $6.00- $12.00 for a set of 60 in several different sizes.

5) When your stiletto heel-tip-dowel is worn down REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY. If the heel tip dowel wears down too low your shoes will be irreparably damaged!

6) You have two options on how to repair your worn down stiletto heel tip dowels. You can either take the shoes into a shoe repair store. Depending on where you live it will cost between $5.00 – $12.00 to have them replaced there. Or, you can replace them yourself.

For many years I dutifully carted my damaged stilettos to various shoe repair stores. This is inconvenient, time consuming, and becomes costly over the years. Furthermore, you are without you beloved stilettos for up to one week. It means one more errand to run – and who needs more errands. I suggest you order some stiletto heel-tip-dowels online, haul out a pair of pliers to carefully remove the damaged Stiletto heel-tip-dowels, and gently hammer in the replacement. This will take you under five minutes to do at home and save you the time, trouble, and expense, of outsourcing this task.
