Melissa Kubek is another amazing 8Q that came to me through the recommendation of a friend, and I’m so glad. We were already connected and had communicated through Facebook, but hadn’t yet met to get to know each other on a more personal basis.

It has to be difficult to juggle the demands of being a real estate agent, business owner, and mother effectively, but somehow Kubek does that and more. The fact that she does it with such a positive attitude is amazing, as I know I would feel overwhelmed in her position. Recently, this driven entrepreneur started offering a line of cold-pressed juices that are made-to-order each morning and delivered fresh to the customer’s door.

What has her journey been to this moment? What inspires her? How does she find a way to unwind at the end of each busy day?
The answers are all here.

8Q Spotlight Melissa Kubek

What is your current career(s) – paid and unpaid?

Over the past 14 years, I have been licensed as a Realtor off and on, in between having my daughters. Just over a month ago, I launched a raw and organic cold pressed juice company that I’m beyond excited about. Natural health is a great passion of mine and I feel lucky to have found two careers that I love.

Can you share an interesting thing (or two) about your journey to reach this moment?

I had my first daughter right out of high school. This meant I had to grow up fast and no longer could be selfish or self-indulgent. I learned how to stretch $20 over a week for food and how to stand tall on my own. These years were some of my favourites in my life. They were real, intense, full of love and laughter, and perfect in their imperfections. Those years showed me what I’m made of. They made me strong and I’m proud of who and what I’ve become.

Which 3 things would you like people to know about you to give them a sense of who you really are?

  1. I believe that we all come from the same place, we just look different when we get here. Therefore, every life matters and is deserving of respect, kindness and love.
  2. I absolutely love being a mom! My girls are my world and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Because of them, I understand what it means to love unconditionally.
  3. I absolutely enjoy getting to know people by having real conversations. We are all so intriguing and have each been through so much. I believe that, ultimately, we all long to be heard, to feel connected and understood.

Highest moment so far?

My highest moment in life so far is when I learned to let go of regret and forgive myself, and this is only a recent accomplishment.

What are you working on right now? In the next 6 months?

I’m so excited about my new cold pressed juice company! It’s currently a delivery-based company (juice is made-to-order and delivered each morning to private residences and offices) and it will soon be featured at Vancouver farmers’ markets! Within one year, I will have opened my first retail store.

Who and/or what inspires you?

People who are mentally and emotionally authentic while being spiritually grounded inspire and captivate me. These types of people are rare breeds and I feel blessed to have several of them close to me in my life.

How do you personally define success?

My definition of success is when one’s answers to the following questions align with one’s core: Who am I, what am I, and what do I want (what is my purpose)?

What to do you to relax and regroup?

At night, after the kids are tucked in, the house is clean, and paperwork is wrapped up, one of my favourite ways to unwind is to sit on my front porch with my Labradoodle and star gaze with a warm drink in-hand. It’s then that I dream, give gratitude and do a lot of thinking. I always feel at peace and feel grounded afterwards.
