Until recently, Asian models were kept out of the limelight.Asian fashion was primarily kept in Asia, and even there, Caucasian models pervaded the industry. Supermodels of Asian descent were an untapped resource, but it is now finally being exposed. Below are some of the hottest and most talented models making waves in the fashion industry.

Fei Fei Sun

This Chinese supermodel was the first Asian model to be pictured on the front of Italian Vogue. She has also made appearances in British and Chinese Vogue, as well as Calvin Klein, Elle, and Valentino.

Godfrey Gao

Gao is being called “the first Asian male supermodel”. He is a mix of Taiwanese and Malaysian and was born in North Vancouver, BC. When he modelled for Louis Vuitton in 2011, it was the first time the designer had ever shot an Asian male model.

Liu Wen

She was the first East Asian model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Wen’s career began when she walked the runway for Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier in 2008. She was also the first spokesperson for Estée Lauder (see below).

Sang Woo Kim

A Londoner with origins in Korea, Sang Woo Kim is known for his incredible cheekbones and well-adored Burberry bucket hat. He has modelled for Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Lacoste, and many more well-known designers.

Cong He has worked with almost too many designers to count; Valentino, Chanel, Dior, Miu Miu, Galliano, Céline, Balmain, and Stella McCartney, to name a few.She is known for her delicate, doll-like features.
