43rd Annual Circle Craft Christmas Market
Over 300 artisans, November 9-13, 2016

In Vancouver, the holidays begin with Circle Craft Christmas Market — a city tradition! In 2016, over 300 artisans (more than 50 new to the Market) will take part — clothing designers, potters, wood and metal workers, glass blowers, jewellers, toy makers, candle and soap makers, and more!

Circle Craft is a BC-run artist cooperative dedicated to providing opportunities for craftspeople to connect with the community. Members of Circle Craft exhibit at the Market; they also play host to makers of fine crafts from across Canada.

The 2016 Circle Craft Christmas Market features artisans from coast to coast: BC craftspeople from communities such as Lumby, Forest Grove, Salmon Arm, Oliver, Quesnel, Mayne Island, Vancouver, and Victoria will showcase the very best of this province. Artisans will also come from as far as Magog (QC), Bellevue (SK), Gananoque and Snow Road Station (ON), Sundre (AB), as well as Charlottetown, Dartmouth, Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto, and more!

2016 exhibitors include long-time favourites Gordon Hutchens (potter), Adhesif Clothing, Chloë Angus Design (button wraps), The Wrestler and the Needle (dolls), Lilliput Hats, Brian Hoyano (jewellery), Morin Tardif (wood), Sartoria (cashmere underwear), and Dconstruct Jewellery; new exhibitors include Here&Now Botanicals (skincare), Honey Canada (felt decorations), Fidoodle (wooden toys), Sinbi Collection (clothing), Majesty Industries (accessories), Strathcona Stockings, HEN Jewelry + Bear Hardware, Allyson Simmie (jewellery), RAW Eco Jewellery, FeltCandy (felt bowls), and Banquet Atelier and Workshop (paper & textiles). And new this year in the Gourmet Alley, ten craft distilleries and wineries, including Dragon Mist Distillery and Montakarn Estate Winery.

Matthew Freed Pottery, winner of the 2015 Circle Craft Christmas Market Gold Award for Excellence in Craft, will be back. The fine work of exhibitors Lincoln Heller, Mikel Grant, Vividworks, Jola V. Designs, ChocolaTas, and Gordon Hutchens adorn Circle Craft Market’s 2016 vibrant posters.

Circle Craft Christmas Market attracts some 40,000 people eager to discover the creations of hundreds of Canadian artisans, all of whom are jury-selected based on talent and diversity. In addition, to round out the experience, visitors will find entertainment by local performers, craft technique demos, contests, and the “Budding Artists” open area where emerging artists will introduce exciting and innovative new work.

From “The Cultch” in the 70s, to the Convention Centre “under the sails,” to the new Convention Centre West, the Market has moved around Vancouver, but it’s always retained its unique character and mandate to showcase high quality craft via the artisans themselves. Parents who went as children now take their own kids and grandchildren. Circle Craft Christmas Market is truly a Vancouver tradition.

The 2016 Market will take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, 1055 Canada Place, November 9-13, 2016. This year, the Market runs Wednesday to Sunday.
