In 1992, The BBC series “Absolutely Fabulous” began growing its cult following. The show, which featured the motto, “Sin is in!”, told the story of a single mother (Edina Monsoon, played by Jennifer Saunders) and her best friend (Patricia Stone, played by Joanna Lumley)’s adventures while raising her more responsible daughter (Saffron Monsoon, Played by Julia Sawalha). The Monsoon family was a disaster, but one with a sense of humor. Eddy and Patsy lived glamorously, overused the word “darling”, and were guaranteed to say wildly inappropriate things at any given moment. That, on top of their thick British accents, made them the perfect posh, dysfunctional stereotypes.

The show ended in 2012, but in 2016, there will be a big release: Ab Fab: the Movie. Jennifer Saunders will be writing the film as well as starring in it, and Lumley and Sawalha will be returning as cast members. There will also be a cameo appearance from Kate Moss, who is a self-professed fan of the BBC series . This month, they’re filming in the south of France, where parts of the movie will take place. Others will be shot in the United Kingdom. The first image that’s been released in preparation for the film was of two champagne flute-clutching Ab Fab stars, Saunders and Stone. They’re posed on the deck of a yacht, grinning in bold, printed outfits.

In regards to the plot, little has been revealed. In general, Eddy and Patsy will find themselves in the midst of a scandal they created, forced to escape media harassment. More specifically, they will be “blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party” (Jafaar) and forced to relocate to the French Riviera. Their glittering lifestyle has remained intact; that includes substance abuse, partying, and shopping like it’s going out of style. This time, there’s just more conflict, and the end goal is to keep living the ab fab life indefinitely.
