Evita Sarmonikas’s life was tragically cut short under suspicious circumstances on Saturday 20th March in Mexicali, Mexico during a holiday.

Ms Sarmonikas passed away in a hospital in Mexicali, Mexico. She was only 29 and in the prime of her life. She has left behind her sister and her mother who are desperate to go to Mexico to bring her home to Australia. The family are mourning the loss of their beloved daughter and sister Evita.

Evita’s family is seeking financial donations. The funds will be used for travel expenses, accommodation in Mexico, and any professional and legal advice that  may be required to bring Evita’s remains home to Australia.

Evita was a vivacious, vibrant young woman who was adored by her family, boyfriend, friends and her community. Eva’s mother and sister wish to thank all of Eva’s friends for the words of comfort, immense emotional, spiritual, and financial support they have received during this difficult time.

With the support of the wider community, Evita’s mother and sister will be travelling to Mexico to bring her remains home to Australia.

The Sarmonikas family have advised the police department that this will be their only public statement for now. They do not wish themselves, their extended family, or their friends to be contacted by the media.
